As it happens, Ilja Jutte’s life took a completely new direction when she fell pregnant. Within a short period, the Netherlands native packed up her life, embarked on a new career in holistic therapy, and then became a mum.
She now lives on the Northern Beaches with her sweet little girl, Anabel. She is a Reiki and meditation practitioner.
“Professionally, I’m from a completely different background”, explains the former marketing communications specialist, “but while I was pregnant I completed 7 Level Reiki training. It just simply felt right. Learning Reiki and everything that flowed from there opened up a new world and enhanced my understanding of life beyond my wildest imagination”.
Reiki is a Japanese therapy described on Ilja’s website as ‘a highly effective form of energetic healing’. It’s a touch-activated technique that Ilja likes to combine with meditation. “We are often so caught up with what’s going on in our daily lives that we forget to take the time to tune into our inner wisdom. Meditation can help you get in touch with this inner realm of truth”.
So how do you manage the motherhood/work juggle? “As a single parent with no close family it can be interesting. It’s really a matter of putting into practice all the spiritual principles I know like trust, following inner guidance, living in the moment, quantum forgiveness, opening your heart and mind to miraculous solutions. Once you take the leap of faith and start living like this, there’s no turning back. I love it, even though it can seem challenging at times”.
What do you love about motherhood? “I love how it gives you the opportunity to get really in touch with your intuition and experience unconditional love. I find that parenting is at its essence an internal job. Children are experts at bringing up anything unhealed within your own mind. I learn so much from my daughter, and I’m grateful for it”.
Favourite Park? The Long Reef area (see Park Love)
Favourite kid’s song? Row row row your boat. Gently down the stream, Merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream. Such great wisdom. My little girl likes it too.
Ilja works both on the Northern beaches and in the Eastern suburbs. For more information on her services including the mum’s and children’s playgroup visit: www.joyfulminds.com.au
