When Sydney producer, Joy Roberts, put out the call for monologue submissions for her new show MOTHERS, she expected to receive a flurry of light-hearted, humorous scripts. What she didn’t expect was the large number of stories exposing the darker side of motherhood.

rehersals MOTHERSThe result is a show that shines a light on the good, the bad and the not so pretty aspects of motherhood. There’ll be a few tears and lots laughter with real life stories that feature nine main characters including a woman whose dream is to be a mother, a teen who hadn’t planned to be, a new mum in her 40s, a motherless mother, a soon-to-be grandmother, a different kind of mother, a mourning mum, a struggling immigrant mum and a role-juggling working-mum.

MOTHERS will be at the Roxbury Hotel in Glebe over the next two weekends and there’ll also be a Mother’s Day performance at TAP Gallery.
