The passing of her sister in August 2012 to Motor Neurons Disease (MND), had a profound effect on Maroubra Beach local Nicki.
Mother of two and grandmother of seven, Nicki decided she wanted to help fight the fight against MND.
With the help of her friend “Hippie”, Nicki has built a trailer and will be travelling around Australia with the aim to help support sufferers of MND and those affected by other illnesses in rural communities.
What struck Nicki through her journey of building her trailer, was the kindness and generosity of others around her. In particular, she said that the Maroubra Beach community has been tremendous in their support and donations.
Nicki has set off this week to test out the home-made trailer and travel out to Wellington NSW, to scatter her sister’s ashes.
Her big trip is set for October 2015.
