The following headlines are about Sydney mothers involved in court proceedings. They are all very sad and I’m not sure how I feel about reporting these except to say that they caught my attention and relate to local women.

1: Swabs mixed up in Sydney murder trial of man accused of stabbing his pregnant girlfriend ‘to save his unborn child from drugs’ The case against the man accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend was uprooted after it was revealed that police made a huge mistake in relation to crucial DNA evidence.

Christopher Anderson pleaded not guilty to murdering Allira Green, 23, who died from a single stab wound to her chest in the early hours of August 3, 2013 at a Maroubra residence in Sydney’s east.

3: Mother to be sentenced over toddler death A mother is due to appear in court on Tuesday for sentencing over the death of her toddler. The body of the two-year-old boy, who died in hospital in 2012, displayed an array of injuries, including fractures to several ribs, a shoulder blade, his forearm and clavicle. His mother, who cannot be identified, is set to be sentenced in the Supreme Court in Sydney after she was found guilty of his manslaughter.
