Back To Work? Let’s Do It Smoothly

LucianaLuciana De Michiel of eMotion Counselling has just launched a new service entirely dedicated to mums returning to work or starting their own business and is offering Sydney Mum readers 10% off her one month support package of phone and email consultations.

“The amount of stress involved in starting something new like a home based business is often underestimated; most of times mums have to move into a completely new field, even when they are using the experience acquired at previous jobs, being your own boss is challenging”

But Luciana, who set up her own business while raising three little children (without nannies or grannies) also stresses that while the new mumpreneurs can forget about the 9-5 lifestyle and get used to the idea of working weekends, nights and public holidays, those going back to the commuting life it isn’t any easier either.

“Even if they return to their old workplace at the end of maternity leave it will all be very different from the pre-baby times. For a start there’s a whole new family routine that is near impossible to get right straight away. Then there is the work environment which may have changed; colleagues may have moved, management has changed, new policies are in place and so on. It’s never easy.”

“One way I support new period is by encouraging mums to drop me a line a the end of the working day, before they hit the doorstep. By telling me how their day went it gives them the chance to vent and forget the office dramas and also highlight the achievements. It’s a great way to stop work related stress intruding on family life.”
